MALE’, Maldives — The ruling Congress Party has appointed Uz. Mohammed Firzul as its spokesperson for the upcoming local council elections, senior officials announced Wednesday.

Ibrahim Falah, the party’s parliamentary group leader and campaign manager for the council elections, confirmed the appointment, describing Firzul as a trusted youth figure within the party’s leadership. Firzul currently serves as Under Secretary at the President’s Office and previously acted as spokesman during President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu’s transition, when Muizzu was President-elect.

The appointment underscores the party’s effort to consolidate its communications ahead of the polls, with Firzul expected to play a central role in shaping the Congress Party’s public messaging during the campaign.
