MALÉ, Maldives — Addressing over 300 graduates at the Maldives National University, President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu shared a personal account of his academic journey, underscoring the value of perseverance and hard work.
Reflecting on his eight years of study in the United Kingdom, the president recalled sleepless nights in laboratories, testing concrete and analyzing data for his civil engineering and concrete technology research. “I remember working 20-hour days toward my dissertation,” he recounted, highlighting the grit needed to achieve meaningful success. President Muizzu credited his academic advisor and supporters, emphasizing that individual achievements often stem from collective support.
The president’s message was clear: in the face of challenges, resilience and positive thinking are crucial. He urged the graduates to use their knowledge not only to advance their careers but also to serve their nation. “A true Maldivian doesn’t just look after their own interests but holds a sense of duty toward the nation,” he said, encouraging the graduates to channel their skills into community service and national progress.
As the Maldives emphasizes a knowledge-based economy, President Muizzu reminded the graduates that building intellectual and physical capacities is essential for the nation’s future. In closing, he expressed hope that their next steps would contribute to a brighter, more self-sufficient Maldives.
