MALÉ, Maldives — Addressing 311 graduates of Maldives National University, President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu urged the young cohort to embrace “positive thinking” and self-confidence as they face future challenges.
Reflecting on his own academic journey, President Muizzu emphasized that perseverance and optimism were key to his success. He recounted the long hours spent in the laboratory while completing his Ph.D. in civil engineering in the United Kingdom, noting that resilience and commitment were crucial to overcoming hardship. “Your journey should not be forgotten,” he told the graduates, adding that courage in the face of trials can bring “success for you, your family, and our nation.”
President Muizzu highlighted the importance of positivity and adaptability in today’s rapidly changing economy. He encouraged the graduates to think critically and independently, pointing out that intellectual growth requires self-confidence and a dedication to contributing thoughtfully to society.
His address comes as the Maldives government undertakes ambitious reforms, including a major housing initiative and digital expansion aimed at strengthening national resilience.
