NEW YORK — President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, currently in New York for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, took time out to meet with Maldivians living in the United States at the Permanent Mission of the Maldives to the UN. In a candid conversation, Muizzu listened to the concerns and challenges faced by his fellow citizens abroad, offering reassurance that his government is committed to addressing their needs.
During the meeting, President Muizzu actively inquired about the day-to-day hurdles Maldivians in the U.S. encounter, signaling a focus on understanding their issues from a grassroots level. He reiterated his administration’s pledge to engage in open dialogue, stressing that policies moving forward would reflect the voices of Maldivians both at home and abroad.
The event began with Muizzu signing the guest book at the Permanent Mission, marking his first engagement with the Maldivian diaspora in New York since assuming office.
