New Delhi, — In her address to a joint session of Parliament on Friday, President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the positive developments in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370. She commended the region for conducting peaceful Lok Sabha and assembly elections in 2024, marking a significant milestone after five years of President’s Rule.

“After the abrogation of Article 370, there is a conducive environment for development in Jammu & Kashmir,” President Murmu stated. She highlighted the completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project, which now connects the nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Notably, this project includes the Chenab Bridge, recognized as the highest railway bridge in the world.

Further infrastructure advancements were underscored, such as India’s first rail cable-stayed Anji Bridge and the ongoing work on the Shinkun La tunnel. Upon its completion, the Shinkun La tunnel is set to be the world’s highest, ensuring year-round connectivity between Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.

In addition to regional developments, President Murmu addressed national concerns regarding digital security. She acknowledged the challenges posed by digital fraud, cybercrime, and emerging technologies like deepfakes to India’s social, economic, and national security. The government has implemented numerous measures to counter these threats, simultaneously creating employment opportunities in the field of cybersecurity for the youth.

“My government is continuously working to ensure competence in cybersecurity. As a result of these efforts, India has achieved tier-1 status in the Global Cybersecurity Index,” she noted.

The President also emphasized the government’s commitment to e-governance, aiming to minimize governmental interference in citizens’ daily lives.

These initiatives reflect a broader strategy to foster development, enhance security, and streamline governance across the nation.
