President Muizzu Sends Republic Day Greetings as Maldives Looks to Deepen Ties With India

MALÉ, Maldives – President Mohamed Muizzu extended Republic Day greetings to India, sending congratulations to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian people on their seventy seventh Republic Day.

In a message shared on social media, President Muizzu said the day reflects the resolve of the Indian people to uphold the principles of freedom, democracy and good governance. He added that the Maldives looks forward to continuing its work with India to strengthen the close relationship between the two countries for the benefit of both peoples.

India marks Republic Day each year on January 26, commemorating the date in 1950 when its Constitution came into force and the country became a sovereign democratic republic.
