Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union ministers marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor by changing their profile photos on X to the operation’s emblem, calling it a reminder of India’s resolve to defeat terrorism.

In a post, the Prime Minister said the armed forces had shown “unparalleled courage, precision and resolve” during the strikes, adding that the operation reflected India’s unwavering commitment to national security . He said the nation salutes the forces for their valour and remains steadfast in dismantling the ecosystem that enables terrorism.

Operation Sindoor was launched in the early hours of May 7, 2025, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. India carried out precision air and missile strikes on terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir .

Indian forces targeted nine terror camps linked to Jaish‑e‑Mohammed and Lashkar‑e‑Taiba, killing at least 100 terrorists, according to official assessments. Hostilities ended on May 10 after military‑level talks between the two countries .

The coordinated show of solidarity by ministers underscores the government’s messaging that India will not tolerate cross‑border terrorism. Last year, PM Modi had said the strikes were a clear warning against Pakistan’s “nuclear blackmail” .

Following the operation, the armed forces intensified efforts to strengthen combat preparedness, with a renewed focus on drones, missile systems, surveillance and AI‑driven warfare capabilities .
