Reality Check: Why are we ghosting the Creator who gave us everything?

We’re living in a world where we’re constantly hyper-fixated on the “now.” We spend hours curating our online personas, chasing the latest trends, and obsessing over our personal brand. Somewhere in that frantic race to be seen, we’ve hit a point where we’re essentially ghosting the Architect of our own existence.

There’s a verse in the Quran—specifically in Surah Al-Infitar—that feels like it was written just to humble the modern ego. It’s a direct, cold-cut question that demands an answer:

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ

“O humanity! What has emboldened you against your Lord, the Most Generous,”

This isn’t a lecture; it’s a mirror. When Allah calls Himself “Al-Kareem”—the Most Generous—He’s reminding us that every breath, every opportunity, and every bit of grace we’ve ever received came from Him, even when we were acting like we didn’t need Him. So, what’s the excuse? Why do we treat the One who constantly has our back like He’s an afterthought?

The “Main Character” Blueprint

We’re out here living like we just magically evolved into our current selves. But let’s look at the specs:

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ ٧

فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍۢ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ ٨

“Who created you, fashioned you, and perfected your design, moulding you in whatever form He willed?”

Think about the biological masterpiece that is you. From the way your systems function to the unique way you’re built, you aren’t an accident. You were designed with intention. Yet, we take this perfectly crafted body and mind and use it to do everything except what we were made for. We’re basically using a high-end, limited-edition machine to do something completely beneath its purpose, and then we’re surprised when we feel empty.

The “Delulu” Defense

So, why do we act like there’s no final exam? Why do we scroll past the truth and live like we’re never going to be called out for our actions?

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ

“But no! In fact, you deny the ˹final˺ Judgment,”

Let’s be real—the reason we act like there’s no accountability isn’t because we lack evidence. It’s because we’re intoxicated by the “now.”

Between the clout, the ego-trips, and the need to be “in” with the crowd, we’ve decided to treat the afterlife as a theory rather than a destination.

We’re choosing temporary highs over eternal peace because, right now, the high feels more tangible.

The Final Hour

Here’s the plot twist that keeps getting left out of the conversation:

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌۭ لِّنَفْسٍۢ شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلَّهِ ١٩

“˹It is˺ the Day no soul will be of ˹any˺ benefit to another whatsoever, for all authority on that Day belongs to Allah ˹entirely˺.”

All that influence, those connections, and the “main character energy” you’ve built up? None of it carries over. When the curtains close, the only thing that actually matters is your link with the One who made you.

The reality check: Stop pretending you’re the CEO of your own destiny. You’re the creation, not the Creator. It’s time to stop the cap, drop the ego, and acknowledge the One who’s been covering you all along. Don’t wait until the power-up is gone to realize you were playing the wrong game.
