A China Eastern Airlines aircraft was involved in a technical incident on Saturday after landing at Shanghai’s airport, colliding with a passenger boarding bridge while taxiing toward its parking stand.
According to the airline, the flight had arrived from Chengdu when it experienced a mechanical malfunction as it moved slowly toward its designated gate. The malfunction caused the aircraft to make partial contact with the jet bridge.
No passengers or crew members were injured. China Eastern said the cockpit crew followed standard safety procedures immediately after the impact. The aircraft was secured and passengers were disembarked safely.
Airport authorities and the airline have launched a technical investigation to determine the exact cause of the malfunction and assess any structural damage to the aircraft and the boarding bridge.
The airline has not reported any disruption to wider airport operations.
