India and Qatar held discussions in New Delhi on Thursday on ways to deepen bilateral trade and improve supply chain resilience. The meeting took place against the backdrop of disruptions linked to the West Asia crisis, which has affected shipping routes and energy flows across the region.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed to review economic cooperation. Goyal said the talks focused on expanding trade and investment ties and on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries. He noted that both sides were looking to build long‑term stability into supply chains that support key sectors.

The discussions come at a time when India is seeking to secure alternative supply routes and reinforce economic partnerships to reduce exposure to regional volatility. Qatar remains a major supplier of liquefied natural gas to India and a significant investor in Indian infrastructure and energy projects.

Media reports indicate that both governments are exploring ways to improve logistics efficiency, facilitate trade and expand investment channels as part of a broader effort to safeguard economic links amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
