New Delhi: Finland is rolling out the welcome mat for India’s skilled workforce, offering a range of career prospects in fields like IT, engineering, game development, and cutting-edge research, according to a statement released Monday by Business Finland, the country’s trade and innovation agency.

Business Finland, tasked with boosting international trade, investment, and talent attraction, is targeting Indian professionals with a dedicated push.

“Our Work in Finland platform provides a one-stop resource for Indian talent eager to explore career paths and life in Finland,” the agency announced.

Laura Lindeman, who leads the Work in Finland initiative, underscored the nation’s need for global expertise, particularly in tech-driven industries. “Finland is on the hunt for long-term talent—think software developers, cybersecurity experts, and innovators in emerging tech. We offer a unique blend of professional growth, sustainability, and work-life harmony,” she said.

Meanwhile, a new postdoctoral program, spearheaded by Tulanet’s Executive Director Sanna Marttinen, is set to bolster Finland’s research landscape. Representing 11 state-backed research institutes, Marttinen highlighted a government-backed R&D surge. “We’re thrilled about this investment. It’s a game-changer for collaborative research,” she said. The initiative plans to onboard 85 postdoctoral researchers from 2025 to 2028, with competitive salaries starting at around 4,000 euros.

Finland’s tech sector, renowned for its pioneering spirit, is a magnet for talent in software, data science, AI, and beyond. Companies prize problem-solving and innovation, often requiring degrees in fields like computer science or engineering. While English fluency opens doors, picking up Finnish can give professionals an edge, the statement noted.

From its dynamic start-up ecosystem to its focus on gaming, clean tech, health, and digital solutions, Finland is positioning itself as a hub for English-speaking professionals. For India’s ambitious workforce, it’s a chance to shine on a global stage.
