Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the Rajya Sabha that the international system is undergoing a clear shift and that many leading economies now view India as a reliable partner at a time of global instability. He said India has earned trust through consistent engagement and by contributing to global welfare alongside friendly nations.
Modi highlighted a series of recent trade agreements, including a new deal with the United States and what he described as the “Mother of all Deals” with the European Union involving 27 countries. In total, nine major agreements have been concluded in recent months, reflecting growing interest in India’s expanding economic strength.
India remains one of the world’s fastest‑growing major economies and is projected to become the third largest by 2030 with a GDP of 7.3 trillion dollars.
Modi said the country is experiencing a rare combination of rapid development and a young population, noting that nearly 65 percent of Indians are under the age of 35.
Official forecasts show India’s economy growing by 7.4 percent in the 2026 financial year, with growth expected to remain between 6.8 and 7.2 percent in 2027. IMF data indicates that India and China will be the largest contributors to global real GDP growth in 2026, ahead of the United States.
Modi said the world’s interest in India has increased sharply, pointing to the country’s skilled workforce and expanding technological capabilities. He added that India is strengthening its position in critical minerals and rare earths, sectors that have become strategically important.
Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar recently noted that New Delhi is building supply chain resilience through the National Critical Minerals Mission and Rare Earth Corridors.
Foreign investment continues to rise. Gross FDI inflows reached 64.7 billion dollars between April and November 2025, compared with 55.8 billion dollars during the same period the previous year. Modi said this reflects growing confidence in India’s long‑term prospects, with investors linking their future to India’s development path.
According to the prime minister, the global environment is changing in ways that favor India, and the country is prepared to play a larger role in shaping the emerging world order.
