NEW YORK CITY, New York: Wegmans has recalled its frozen breaded chicken breast nuggets following reports of bone fragments in the product, affecting customers across eight states and Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert but stopped short of a formal recall, as the product is no longer available on store shelves.
The alert applies to 46-ounce plastic packages labeled “Wegmans Family Pack Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat.” The affected products carry a best-if-used-by date of August 26, 2025, printed on the back of the packaging near the barcode. The nuggets were produced on August 26, 2024.
Distributed exclusively through Wegmans Food Markets in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., the nuggets were flagged after multiple customer complaints about bone fragments.
No injuries have been confirmed, but FSIS urges consumers to check their freezers, discard the product, or return it to Wegmans for a full refund.
