In a recent incident, a Manta Air seaplane moored at a platform in an island in Male’ atoll suffered damage due to adverse weather conditions. A video circulating on social media depicted the initial unusability of the seaplane, raising concerns about the impact of the incident.

According to Manta Air’s statement to PSM News, the mishap occurred on Wednesday, attributing the damage to the cutting of the rope that secured the seaplane to the platform during rough sea conditions.

“This happened last Wednesday. The plane was cut off from the platform and damaged. It was not hit by any means. This kind of thing happens sometimes,” Manta Air stated.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The seaplane, adversely affected by rain and strong winds, is currently undergoing repairs to restore its operational status.

The Meteorological Office attributed the ongoing rainfall to a cyclone traversing the region, making its way towards the Arabian Sea. The adverse weather conditions underline the challenges posed by natural elements, impacting local infrastructure and transportation systems. As the damaged seaplane undergoes restoration, the incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of weather patterns and their potential implications on maritime operations.
